It overlaps with SEO but is its own discipline, focused on extractable, citable content blocks rather than ranking positions on a search results page.

How is GEO different from SEO?

SEO is about ranking on a Google search results page. GEO is about being cited inside an AI assistant's answer. Both rely on similar foundations — clean HTML, schema markup, useful content — but GEO emphasises factual snippets, structured data, and clear question-answer pairs that AI models can pull straight into a response.

Do I still need traditional SEO?

Yes. Google still drives the largest share of search traffic in 2026, and ranking on Google is still important.
