Privacy & Cookie Policy
Last updated 22 June 2026
This policy explains what personal data Sort The Clicks collects, how and why we use it, the cookies and analytics tools on this website, and the rights you have over your information.
Who we are
Sort The Clicks is a digital agency run by Dan Whytock, based in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. In this policy "we", "us" and "our" mean Sort The Clicks. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.
If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at hello@sorttheclicks.com.
What this policy covers
It covers personal data we collect through our website (sorttheclicks.com), our enquiry and intake forms, our booking and messaging channels, and when you work with us as a client or prospective client.
The information we collect
Information you give us
When you contact us, book a call, fill in an enquiry or intake form, or work with us, you may give us:
- Your name and the name of your business
- Contact details such as email address and phone number
- Details about your business, your goals and your project
- Any files, content or account access you share with us to deliver a project
- The content of messages you send us by email, WhatsApp or our forms
Information we collect automatically
When you visit the website, we and our analytics and advertising partners may collect:
- Your IP address, approximate location, device and browser type
- Pages you view, links you click, and how you move through the site
- Referral information, including whether you arrived from an ad or a search
- Cookie and similar identifiers (see Cookies and tracking below)
How we use your information
- To respond to your enquiries and provide quotes and proposals
- To deliver, manage and support the services you ask us for
- To send you project updates and, where relevant, occasional updates about our services
- To operate, secure and improve our website
- To measure and improve our marketing, including the performance of our ads
- To meet our legal and accounting obligations
Our lawful bases
Under UK data protection law we rely on:
- Consent — for non-essential cookies and analytics and advertising tracking, and for any marketing messages where consent is required. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Contract — to provide the services you have requested or signed up for.
- Legitimate interests — to run, protect and improve our business and website, and to understand how our marketing performs, balanced against your rights.
- Legal obligation — where we must keep records for tax, accounting or other legal reasons.
Cookies and tracking
Cookies and similar technologies are small files and identifiers stored on your device. We use a small number of them, mostly to understand how the site is used and to measure our advertising. The main ones are:
| Tool | Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Meta Pixel & Conversions API | Meta (Facebook/Instagram) | Measures the performance of our Facebook and Instagram ads and helps us reach relevant people. |
| Google Analytics 4 | Tells us how many people visit, which pages they view and how they found us, so we can improve the site. | |
| Microsoft Clarity | Microsoft | Aggregated insight into how visitors interact with pages (such as scrolling and clicks) to improve usability. |
| Searchable | Searchable | Helps us understand how the site appears in AI and search results. |
You can control or block cookies through your browser settings. You can also opt out of much interest-based advertising through Your Online Choices, and manage how Meta and Google use your data in your Meta ad preferences and Google Ad Centre. Blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.
Advertising
We advertise on Meta (Facebook and Instagram). To measure whether our ads lead to enquiries, the Meta Pixel and Conversions API send Meta limited information about actions taken on our site, such as visiting a page or booking a call. Where this includes contact details, they are hashed (turned into a scrambled, non-readable form) before being sent. Meta acts as an independent controller for the data it receives; see Meta's Privacy Policy.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with trusted providers who help us run our business, and only as needed. These include:
- Hosting and forms — Netlify, Tally
- Bookings and scheduling — Calendly
- Analytics and advertising — Meta, Google, Microsoft, Searchable
- Email and productivity — Google Workspace
- Payments — Stripe (card details are handled by Stripe; we do not see or store full card numbers)
We may also share data where required by law, or to protect our rights, safety or property.
International transfers
Some of our providers are based outside the UK, including in the United States. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK-approved standard contractual clauses or equivalent protections.
How long we keep your data
We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purposes above. Enquiry and project information is kept for the duration of our relationship and for a reasonable period afterwards; records we must keep for tax and accounting are kept for at least six years. We delete or anonymise data when it is no longer needed.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Ask us to delete your data
- Object to, or ask us to restrict, certain processing
- Ask for a copy of your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent
To exercise any of these, email hello@sorttheclicks.com. You also have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
How to delete your data
If you would like us to delete the personal data we hold about you, email hello@sorttheclicks.com with the subject "Data deletion request". We will confirm and complete your request, usually within 30 days, except where we are legally required to keep certain records.
Children
Our website and services are intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed. Significant changes will be reflected on this page.
